Siraj winning POTM (PC: X)

India fast bowler Mohammed Siraj delivered a stunning performance for Hyderabad in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025–26. Siraj played a crucial role in a dominant nine-wicket win over Mumbai in a Super League Group B match in Pune.

Siraj’s spell completely shifted the momentum towards Hyderabad. He took three crucial wickets and conceded just 21 runs at an economy rate of 5.47. He first struck in the 17th over and dismissed Suryansh Shedge. On the very next delivery, Siraj removed Mumbai captain Shardul Thakur, which left the opposition under huge pressure. He then dismissed Tanush Kotian, triggering a complete collapse of the lower order.

While batting, Yashasvi Jaiswal (29), Ajinkya Rahane (13), Hardik Tamore (29), and Shedge (28) helped Mumbai post a modest total of 131 runs. For Hyderabad, apart from Siraj, Chama Milind and Tanay Thyagarajan picked up two wickets each.

While chasing, Aman Rao and Tanmay Agarwal single-handedly helped Hyderabad secure the game in the 12th over. Aman remained unbeaten on 52 runs, while Tanmay scored 75 runs off 40 balls, which included seven boundaries and four sixes at a strike rate of 187.50. Tushar Deshpande was the only bowler to pick up a wicket for Mumbai.

Siraj’s performance earned him the Player of the Match award, but what made it more special was that he shared the award with opener Tanmay for his brilliant effort.

Siraj last played a T20I in 2024 against Sri Lanka and is now set to return in the ODI series against New Zealand, starting on January 11, 2026.
