Teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi reacted to becoming the most searched sports personality in India in 2025, surpassing Virat Kohli, by saying that while it makes him happy, his focus remains on playing good cricket.

Sooryavanshi once again put the world on notice by smashing another breathtaking hundred — 171 off 95 balls for India against the UAE in the first match of the U19 Men’s Asia Cup 2025. His innings was laced with nine boundaries and 14 sixes. India posted 433, with Sooryavanshi being the top scorer. His knock now stands as the second-highest by an Indian in youth ODIs, behind Ambati Rayudu’s 177 in 2002.

The home side couldn’t chase the mammoth target, handing Ayush Mhatre-led India an easy win.

The southpaw’s performance at the top earned him the Player of the Match award, and it was then that Sooryavanshi was asked about being the most searched Indian sportsperson, to which he said: “I don’t pay attention to these things. I keep the focus on my game. Yes, I do hear about these developments, and it does feel nice. I look at it, feel good about it, and then move forward. That’s about it.”

A few days ago, Sooryavanshi scored his maiden century in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy against Maharashtra. Before that, representing India A, the swashbuckling batter struck a 42-ball 144 against the UAE in the Rising Stars Asia Cup.

Earlier in the year, the 14-year-old created history by becoming the youngest Indian batter to score a century in the IPL. He also holds the record for the fastest hundred in youth cricket, which came off just 42 balls against England U19 earlier this year.
