Vidarbha defeated Saurashtra by 38 runs in the final to win the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025/26 for the first time in their history in Bengaluru. Atharva Taide was the hero for Vidarbha with a brilliant century.

Saurashtra won the toss and elected to bat first. In a high-pressure final, Taide and Aman Mokhade stitched together an opening partnership of 80 runs. After Mokhade’s departure, Taide added 133 runs off 112 balls with Yash Rathod.

These two partnerships laid the foundation for a strong total of 317/8 for Vidarbha. There were no other major contributions, as Ankur Panwar picked up four wickets for Saurashtra. Taide scored 128 off 118 balls, including 15 fours and three sixes, at a strike rate of 108.47. Mokhade and Rathod contributed 33 and 54 respectively.

In reply, chasing a stiff target of 318, Saurashtra got off to a poor start, losing two wickets with just 30 runs on the board. Prerak Mankad tried hard to bring Saurashtra back into the contest. Along with Chirag Jani, he added 93 runs.

However, after their dismissals, Saurashtra had no real hope left as they ended up getting bundled out for 279 in 48.5 overs. Mankad scored 88 off 92 balls, while Jani made 64 off 63 deliveries.

Yash Thakur finished with figures of 4/50, while his bowling partner Nachiket Bhute picked up three wickets. Taide was adjudged the Player of the Match, while Mokhade was named Player of the Tournament for scoring 814 runs in 10 innings at an average of 90.44, including five centuries and one fifty.
