Newly appointed Kolkata Knight Riders assistant coach Shane Watson is excited to work with his countryman Cameron Green in next year’s IPL. After rounds of an intense bidding war, Green was snapped up for INR 25.5 crore, making him the most expensive pick of the IPL 2026 auction and the most expensive overseas buy in IPL history.
“I’ve always been a massive fan of Cameron Green,” Watson said in an interview on the franchise’s website. “I’m an all-rounder at heart, so I know what it takes to push the limits to be the best all-rounder that you possibly can be. I’ve always absolutely loved everything about Cameron Green, the way he goes about his skill set as a batter, and his incredible skill set as a bowler as well.”
Being a former all-rounder himself, Watson understands the qualities Green brings to the table and cannot wait to work with the seam-bowling all-rounder at KKR.
“He’s got incredible height, he’s got incredible skill, and I’ve been wanting the chance to work with him really closely. I’ve had a number of conversations with him over the years, trying to help him wherever he needs it. However, I haven’t had the opportunity to work with him in a team and help him on his journey to becoming the very best that he possibly can be. Now, because of KKR, I get the chance to work with him and pass on the knowledge that I was fortunate enough to gain throughout my playing days, playing with so many incredible players,” he added.
