Delhi Capitals (DC) pacer Nandni Sharma created history as she became the fourth bowler in WPL history to take a hat-trick. She has now joined an elite list featuring Grace Harris (2025), Deepti Sharma (2024), and Issy Wong (2023). She achieved the milestone in the fourth match of the WPL 2026 between DC and Gujarat Giants (GG) on January 11, 2026. It was also the first hat-trick of this ongoing season.

Nandni’s first wicket came in her second over when she dismissed Sophie Devine, who missed out on a century by just five runs. Devine was caught by Shree Charani off a back-of-the-hand slower delivery from Nandani. In her final over, the 24-year-old ran through the lower order of Gujarat Giants.

On the second ball of her last over, Kashvee Gautam was caught at long-on by Chinelle Henry off Nandni’s bowling. One delivery later, Kanika Ahuja was beaten by an off-cutter and was stumped by Lizelle Lee. On the very next ball, Rajeshwari Gayakwad attempted a flick, but her stumps were rattled by the right-arm pacer.

Nandni completed her hat-trick by bowling a length delivery around middle and leg to Renuka Singh Thakur, who tried to sweep. The ball struck her pad before deflecting onto the stumps. The bowler was delighted with her achievement as the entire team rushed in to congratulate her.

Nandni finished with figures of 5/33 in her four overs at an economy rate of 8.20. She became only the second Indian bowler to claim a five-wicket haul in WPL history. Although, GG set a huge 210-run target for DC.

After the innings, while speaking to the broadcasters, Nandni said: “I wanted to just bowl at my target. They (Shafali and Jemi) were talking to me every ball and that was my plan (to bowl at the stumps). I did not expect it (a hat trick) but the team told me I could get wickets. After my first over, I noticed that they were hitting my stock ball well. After that, i bowled my variations and thankfully it worked. My brother, my mother and my friend are here. My family is watching at home also and they have been very supportive.”
