In the fourth match of the ongoing Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 on January 11, Delhi Capitals’ (DC) veteran spinner Sneh Rana registered an unwanted record.

While playing against Gujarat Giants (GG), she conceded 32 runs in a single over at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.

Rana came on to bowl in the sixth over when GG’s Sophie Devine was on strike. Devine smashed two fours over mid-wicket and outside off. Rana then tried bowling a fuller length to recover, but Devine launched a six over long-on. On the next delivery, Devine struck another six to bring up her half-century in just 25 balls. She did not stop there, smashing two more sixes over deep mid-wicket in the next two deliveries, making it the most expensive over in the history of the WPL.

Earlier, Deepti Sharma held the record after conceding 28 runs in a single over for UP Warriorz (UPW) against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).

Devine eventually finished with 95 runs off 42 balls, which included seven boundaries and eight maximums at a strike rate of 226.19. Captain Ashleigh Gardner also played a crucial knock, scoring 49 runs off 26 balls at a strike rate of 188.46. Beth Mooney (19), Anushka Sharma (13) and Kashvee Gautam (14) added important runs, helping GG post a massive total of 209 runs in their 20 overs.

For DC, Nandani Sharma was the standout bowler with a five-wicket haul in her four overs, conceding 33 runs at an economy rate of 8.25. She also claimed a hat-trick, which was the fourth hat-trick in WPL history.
