Captain Harmanpreet Kaur praised the bowlers as the India Women’s team defeated the Sri Lanka Women’s team by seven wickets in the second T20I of the five-match series in Visakhapatnam to take a 2–0 lead.

In the post-match presentation, Harmanpreet said: “Really happy with the way we bowled today. That was the reason we wanted to bowl first. The bowlers took responsibility and put us in a really strong position early on. Later, Shafali and the other batters finished things off beautifully. Everyone in our bowling unit understands their role and is stepping up. We know what Sneh brings to this team. Deepti has been doing it for a while, and I’m very happy with the way we bowled overall.”

India won the toss and elected to field. The Indian bowlers kept the pressure on the Sri Lankan batters throughout the innings and continued to chip away with wickets. Eventually, the visitors were restricted to 128/9. Shree Charani and Vaishnavi Sharma took two wickets each, while Sneh Rana was extremely economical, returning figures of 1/11 from her four-over spell.

In reply, Shafali Verma played a breathtaking innings of 69 off 34 balls, including 11 fours and a six, at a strike rate of 202.94, as India wrapped up the chase in the 12th over.

Shafali was adjudged Player of the Match and reflected on her innings during the post-match presentation.

“The ball was holding a bit at the start, so I tried to play along the ground and take singles,” she said. “The coach also told me how to go about it in such conditions. They bowled well at the start. It was a good knock. I kept myself calm, tried to play along the ground, and the ball was coming on nicely. I know I can score runs if I play the ball along the ground. Acceptance is everything. If you accept your weaknesses, you become a better cricketer.”
