Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has officially confirmed the appointment of R. Sridhar as the Fielding Coach of the Sri Lanka National Team, with his tenure set to run until the end of the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2026.

A BCCI Level 3 certified coach, Sridhar previously served as the Fielding Coach of the India men’s national side from 2014 to 2021, a period during which he was involved in more than 300 international matches.

In his new role, Sridhar will aim to improve the fielding standards of the Sri Lanka team. He will work closely with the players during the upcoming tours of Pakistan and England, before shifting focus to preparations for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

Reacting to his appointment, Sridhar said: “Sri Lankan players have always stood for instinctive brilliance, resilience, and collective spirit. My role is not to impose a system, but to nurture an environment where athleticism, awareness, and pride in the field can grow naturally.”

Sridhar is already familiar with the Sri Lanka cricket structure, having earlier conducted a 10-day specialised fielding programme at the National High Performance Centre this year.

He further added: “Fielding thrives when players feel connected to the ball, to each other, and to the moment. Sri Lanka’s traditional strengths—quick hands, sharp reflexes, and fearless intent, can be further enhanced by creating realistic, game-like learning environments.”

The appointment will come into effect from December 11, 2025, and will continue until March 10, 2026.
