India’s young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal’s brilliant performance helped Mumbai beat Haryana in a Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Super League match on Sunday at Ambi. Jaiswal smashed a superb century, which helped Mumbai win by four wickets.
Jaiswal reached his hundred in just 48 balls. His knock included 16 boundaries and one six at a strike rate of 202.00, which left the Haryana bowlers under constant pressure. Jaiswal dominated the fast bowlers, especially Anshul Kamboj and Sumit Kumar. Samant Jakhar finally dismissed Jaiswal for 101 runs in the 18th over.
Earlier, Mumbai won the toss and opted to bowl first. Haryana started well, with captain Ankit Kumar scoring 89 runs off 42 balls along with opener Arsh Ranga, who added 26 runs. Nishant Sindhu remained unbeaten on 63 runs, while Sumit Kumar added 16 runs. Samant Jakhar was retired out in the 19th over after scoring 31 runs, which helped Haryana post a massive total of 234 runs for the loss of three wickets. Sairaj Patil was the only Mumbai bowler to take two wickets.
While chasing, Mumbai showed great intent, with Jaiswal’s explosive start helping them stay calm. Ajinkya Rahane (21) and Sarfaraz Khan (64) also helped Mumbai complete the second-highest successful chase in the history of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. For Haryana, Jakhar picked up two wickets, while Kamboj, Ishant Bhardwaj, Sumit Kumar, and Amit Rava managed one wicket each, but they could not stop Mumbai from winning.
