Thailand became the champions of the first ICC Women’s Emerging Nations Trophy after a strong performance throughout the tournament. Thailand finished on the same points as Scotland, the Netherlands and the UAE, but they had the best net run rate, which helped them secure the title.

Thailand played calmly from the beginning of the tournament. For Thailand, Natthakan Chantham was the highest run-scorer with 144 runs, while Sunida Chaturongrattana was the highest wicket-taker with 13 wickets. Their performances helped Thailand stay strong in every game.

In the last match, Scotland decided to bat first, but Thailand’s bowlers were brilliant. Thipatcha Putthawong took four wickets for 17 runs, and Suleeporn Laomi took three wickets for 11 runs. Scotland struggled at 30 for 5 in six overs, and the whole team was bowled out for just 63 runs in the 16th over.

While chasing, Thailand looked confident but Scotland fought back. Olivia Bell took a brilliant five-wicket haul for 18 runs, which put Thailand under pressure at 34 for 5 in the seventh over. Thailand’s captain Naruemol Chaiwai stayed calm and scored an important 17 runs from 21 balls, helping them win with three wickets left.

The United Arab Emirates finished second on the points table after they defeated Namibia by 28 runs. The Netherlands secured third place after they defeated Uganda by six wickets.
