
Hyderabad opener Aman Rao grabbed the spotlight with a stunning double-century in the Vijay Hazare Trophy game against Bengal, in Rajkot. The 21-year-old helped Hyderabad post a massive total of 352 for the loss of five wickets.
Rao’s knock came against a high-quality Bengal bowling attack, comprising the likes Mohammed Shami, Akash Deep and Mukesh Kumar. His innings included 12 boundaries and 13 maximums, with his strike rate standing at 129.87. He reached his fifty in 65 balls and then reached his century in 108 balls. It was also his maiden List-A century, which quickly turned into a record-breaking double-hundred. In fact, it was the highest score ever by a Hyderabad batter in this format.
This performance came ahead of the IPL 2026 where Rajasthan Royals (RR) have signed Rao for ₹30 lakh at the IPL 2026 auction. His ability to bat with great maturity will make him a valuable option at the top of the order for RR.

He is a hard-hitting right-hand opener born in Wisconsin, United States, and raised in Hyderabad. He is also seen as a valuable asset in T20 cricket where he has a strike rate of above 160. He also showcased his talent in the U23 State Trophy by scoring 381 runs in six matches. In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he scored 234 runs in 10 innings at an average of 26, which in helped him earn his IPL contract with RR.
