Virat Kohli will miss the Vijay Hazare Trophy game between Delhi and Railways in Alur, to be played on Tuesday. There were reports that Kohli could play his third game of the List-A tournament for Delhi. Sarandeep Singh, the Delhi coach, confirmed to Revsportz, that, “Kohli is not playing.” Last year, Kohli had played against Railways in a Ranji Trophy game, with Himanshu Sangwan castling him.
Alongside Kohli, Delhi captain Rishabh Pant will also miss the match, with both the players set to travel to Baroda to link up with the Indian ODI squad, on Wednesday. In fact, none of the Indian players part of the ODI squad will take part in the Vijay Hazare Trophy on January 6.
The star Indian cricketer has already played in two matches in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy. In his first game against Andhra, at BCCI’s Centre of Excellence, he cracked a scintillating ton. He followed it up with an aggressive fifty versus Gujarat in their next match. Incidentally, Delhi won both those matches.
Kohli has also been in great form in ODIs, scoring two hundreds versus South Africa. He followed it up with an enterprising fifty in the final game. His next assignment is a three-match ODI series versus New Zealand, with the first game starting on January 11 in Vadodara.
