Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Harmanpreet Kaur gave credit to the batters for their seven-wicket win against Gujarat Giants (GG) in the sixth match of WPL 2026.
Harmanpreet led from the front with a captain’s knock and was adjudged the Player of the Match.
Speaking at the post-match presentation ceremony, she said: “But batting-wise, we were good. We calculated it well. Amanjot and I, while batting together, calculated things nicely. She batted beautifully, and in the end, Nicola Carey came in and took all the pressure off me. So overall, it was a good game for us. I feel nowadays scores like this are becoming normal. If you’re batting first, you have to score close to 200. And if you’re chasing, you have to chase these kinds of totals as well. So that mindset is there. Whenever you go out, you have to bat for your team. That clarity helps.”
GG posted 192/5 in their 20 overs. In reply, MI lost two wickets for 37 within the fifth over. From there, Harmanpreet stitched two crucial partnerships to guide her team to victory. She added 72 runs off 44 balls with Amanjot Kaur, which laid the foundation for the chase. Later, she shared an unbeaten 84-run stand off 43 balls with Nicola Carey.
Harmanpreet stayed till the end and scored 71 off 43 balls, including seven fours and two sixes, at a strike rate of 165.12.
GG captain Ashleigh Gardner felt their fielding cost them the match.
“I felt like 193 was a winning target, but like I said earlier, when you don’t take your chances, you tend to pay for it.”
