The LaGrange Cricket Stadium in Atlanta, USA, aspires to hold its first international match in 2027, during India’s tour of the West Indies. This is according to Keval Patel, founder, president & CEO of LaGrange Cricket Holdings.
The Cricket West Indies has hosted international matches at Lauderhill in Florida. But the LaGrange Cricket Stadium offers a novelty. Once completed, it would be the first stadium in the United States to be exclusively used for cricket. “LaGrange Cricket Stadium is more than a traditional venue. It is a world-class sports and entertainment experience designed to redefine how cricket is enjoyed in the United States,” Patel said at the launch event in Mumbai on Monday.
Cricket’s inclusion in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics might change the entire landscape for the sport. “Already, schools in New Jersey have included cricket as a part of their curriculum. The United States is the biggest sports market in the world. A lot of Indian corporates are aiming to build infrastructure for cricket in that part of the world. But land is at a premium in the US,” Patel told RevSportz on the sidelines of the event.
LaGrange Cricket Holdings assures that the stadium will comply with the ICC guidelines. Spread across 45 acres, it will feature 10,000 permanent seats, with the flexibility to expand capacity up to 25,000 for large-scale open-air concerts and entertainment events. Conceived as a multi-sport, community-focused destination, the venue will be capable of hosting national and international matches, positioning LaGrange as a key hub in the global cricket ecosystem.
Pravin Amre, former India batter and the chief strategy officer of LaGrange Cricket Holdings, said: “Having played and coached at the highest level, I understand what it takes to build a truly international-standard facility. LaGrange Cricket Stadium is being developed with a strong focus on quality and global standards. From the playing surface to player facilities and the spectator experience, every detail is being carefully planned.”
The common feeling of the board is that this could be a game-changer for cricket in the United States.
