India all-rounder Hardik Pandya achieved a historic milestone during the third T20I against South Africa at Dharamsala. Pandya became the first pace-bowling all-rounder to complete 1,000 runs and 100 wickets in T20 Internationals on Sunday, December 14.
Hardik achieved this milestone when he dismissed South Africa batter Tristan Stubbs (9) in the seventh over of the innings. After this wicket, he became only the third Indian bowler to claim 100 or more T20I wickets. Pandya joined the elite club of Jasprit Bumrah (101) and Arshdeep Singh (107), who is one of India’s most reliable T20I bowlers.
Earlier, several players achieved this milestone, but all of them are spinners. Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan (149), Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi (104), Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza (102), and Malaysia’s Virandeep Singh (109) are also on that list. Hardik achieved this record in 123 matches.
Pandya made a strong comeback in the T20I series against South Africa in Cuttack after getting injured during the Asia Cup 2025. Hardik remained unbeaten on 59 runs off just 28 balls and also picked up a wicket in the first T20I. In the next match, he scored 20 runs.
In the ongoing match, India won the toss and opted to bowl first. South Africa struggled throughout the innings and posted a small total of 117 runs. Captain Aiden Markram was the top scorer with 61 runs off 46 balls. Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana, Varun Chakravarthy, and Kuldeep Yadav all picked up two wickets for India.
