Delhi Capitals (DC) captain Jemimah Rodrigues praised Marizanne Kapp, whose role with both ball and bat was instrumental in DC’s win over Mumbai Indians (MI) in the 13th match of the WPL 2026.
Speaking at the post-match presentation ceremony, Jemimah said: “Yeah, I think today was a very important game for us. Firstly, I think I would like to share this award with Kappy as well, if we can do that, they said no, because the way she bowled in the powerplay to bowl that spell, I think that got us in the game and gave us the momentum. I mean, that’s one of the best spells I’ve ever seen her bowl, but I mean, she’s a legend of the game. The thing I love about her is she’s so clear about her plans. And at the same time, she just wants to keep getting better and win for the team.”
Kapp was brilliant as she bowled four overs on the trot and gave away just eight runs, taking the wicket of Hayley Matthews, who was bowled. Kapp’s economy rate was just 2.00. Shree Charani also contributed with three wickets as DC successfully restricted MI to 154/5 in their 20 overs.
In reply, Shafali Verma and Lizelle Lee added 63 runs for the first wicket. Jemimah Rodrigues then built two important partnerships with Laura Wolvaardt and Kapp to guide her team to victory. Jemimah remained unbeaten on 51 off 37 balls, including five fours and a six, at a strike rate of 137.84. She was adjudged the Player of the Match.
