RCB wicketkeeper-batter Richa Ghosh praised her team and young teammate Gautami Naik after Royal Challengers Bengaluru defeated Gujarat Giants on January 19, 2026, in Vadodara in the ongoing WPL. She highlighted how the team has grown stronger together and how Gautami has shown great courage and maturity in her first WPL season.
In a media release, Richa spoke about the team’s overall performance and said, “As a team we are playing really well this time. So that feeling, after so many matches, gave us more confidence and when we got to know that we qualified for the playoffs, that confidence and I’m feeling great now because we always like struggle as a team, we’ve struggled a lot for three years. I think this year we played really well as a team and we want to continue this.”
Richa also lauded Gautami’s talent and said, “I think the first time I saw Gautami in the batting net, the way she was striking the ball, the way she was hitting, I think since then she had confidence that whenever she gets a chance in the team or in the batting, she can do well.”
Richa further added, “So the way she handled the pressure situation and the way she played the strokes, I think she played the best today.”
Richa also highlighted how fearless Gautami was. “She showed a lot of maturity as a player because she has played very few matches for RCB and it is her first time in the WPL. I think it takes a lot of guts to come and show maturity for the first time. I think that she has that quality and I think she’ll continue to shine in the future,” she concluded.
RCB suffered a few early setbacks, but Richa played an impactful knock of 27 runs and shared a crucial 69-run partnership with Gautami Naik, which helped RCB post a strong total of 178/6.
